What is Contract Catering?

Contract catering means work that a caterer is contracted to carry out on a regular basis. It’s a service that is used by many different people, from schools to corporations, and it is a popular way to ensure that high quality food is always available when needed.

Often within educational establishments and workplaces, employers will subsidise catering. This means that they will pay money towards it and the people eating the food (staff, visitors, students etc.) will pay the rest. Good food in places like this is very important, ensuring that people are well fed and well motivated. Sometimes, contract caterers will be employed to run a café or restaurant on a daily basis, which is known as a concession.

Contract caterers are experience in providing different types of food depending on their client. For example, food in schools might be required to meet with certain regulations regarding nutrition. They will be able to provide options for different diets, as well as plenty of choices for clients to choose from.

Organisations choose contract caterers through a tender process. They will usually advertise that they require catering services, and from there, caterers will submit their proposals.
